Sharon Van Etten and The Raincoats’ Gina Birch announce new bookAmerican songwriter Sharon Van Etten and punk maverick Gina Birch collaborate for the Illustrated Lyrics book.

This book features contributions by both artists – the lyrics from songs by Van Etten and artwork by artist and founding member of The Raincoats, Gina Birch. The former chose dozens of compositions that span the musician’s entire catalogue. Illustrated Lyrics will feature material from Van Etten’s debut album Because I Was in Love and later works such as We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong, released earlier this year.

A fan of Gina Birch, Sharon Van Etten is more than happy to collaborate with her hero. “I’m so excited to announce that my very special lyric book collaboration with the legendary Gina Birch, of The Raincoats”, she shared on Twitter.

The book is printed in five colours, with Pantone used throughout and typographic layouts inspired by Concrete Poetry to enliven exquisitely reproduced paintings by Gina Birch. This is the second book of Volume’s Illustrated Lyrics series, following the Belle and Sebastian edition.

This edition is signed by Van Etten and Birch and is limited to 1,000 copies, exclusive to Volume. The book can be pre-ordered here.
