Out Now

Swansea Sound’s latest release Music Lover is out now, released as part of a 3 track CD EP inside a special Christmas Card.

For those unfamiliar, Swansea Sound are something of an Indie Supergroup. The quintet comprising of Hue Williams (vocals); Amelia Fletcher (vocals); Ian Button (drums): Rob Pursey (guitars and bass) and Bob Collins (guitar).

Music Lover is a short, punk-pop tribute (although not a complimentary one) to Daniel Ek, Swedish billionaire entrepreneur and co-founder and CEO of Spotify. As a festive gesture to the Swede, the band will be releasing it on Spotify, just so that he receives most of the financial benefit. (The band to date have practically managed to boycott all streaming services since their debut in 2020).

As well as the lead track, the EP includes Happy Christmas To Me and Merry Christmas Darlings which previously featured on a limited edition 7” single that sold out very quickly last Christmas.

Happy Christmas To Me, described by one critic as ‘the Christmas song the Buzzcocks would have written’ extends warm Yuletide feelings to Ek, as well as his pals Musk, Zuckerberg and Bezos. Merry Christmas Darlings is a kind of glam-rock cover version of a song by Cheap Trick. In this version, the ‘party sequence’ at the end of the song sees the four billionaires reunited, jovially exchanging corporate mission statements with each other.

The self proclaimed Corporate Indie Band will release a new album in 2023. Their first, Live At The Rum Puncheon was released to considerable acclaim in 2021 included a number of well received singles including the Top 10 7” semi-smash Indies Of The World.

People wishing to buy the CD EP can do so via Bandcamp and have the Christmas card signed by the band, or left blank so they can write their own festive messages to loved ones.
