First song released from the upcoming EP celebrating the experience of being neurodivergent. “It’s a condition not a sickness,/ Both a blessing and a curse/ And you know you shouldn’t worry/ Worry only makes things worse…”
T.E. Yates, whose artistic creativity encompasses being a singer-songwriter, animator, multi-instrumentalist, artist and illustrator, today releases the first song, Condition, from his upcoming EP, Strange Weather, to be released 12th November 2021, with an accompanying video that looks like this…
Condition is a song that really grows on you the more you listen to it, with a David Byrne/Talking Heads vibe, with its deceptively upbeat music that somehow manages to have a melancholic undertow to it. The song features Yates’ most explicit lyrics about his experiences as a neurodivergent person and he has roped in a host of neurodivergent friends to contribute to the video. Yates said: “Our arts, culture and entertainment play a crucial role in helping to shape societal attitudes. I think it’s important that artists like me do more to speak out – and make art about – our experiences as neurodivergent people.”
Yates himself is an award-winning animator and his work features not only in the Condition video but in the following ones too:
