This year’s Grammy Awards will pay tribute to late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.
Hawkins passed away last Friday (March 25) in Bogotá, Colombia. He was 50.
Jack Sussman, CBS Executive Vice President of Specials, Music and Live Events, recently spoke to Variety about the tribute. “We will honor his memory in some way,” Sussman says. “We want to figure out what is the right thing to do that is respectful to everyone involved. We’re patient. We’ll be planning right up until the very end.”
Foo Fighters were previously announced as one of the live performers for the Grammys but have since canceled all of their upcoming shows following the news of Hawkins’ passing.
This year’s Grammy Awards are set to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The ceremony is scheduled to air April 3 at 8 p.m. EST.
