On Wednesday, the 16 artists nominated to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame this year were finally announced. Foo Fighters, Iron Maiden, JAY-Z, Tina Turner and Rage Against The Machine are among the acts nominated this year. Now, it looks like the nominations have sparked that debate about what is considered […]
Now, it looks like the same debate is happening again this year. Following the nominations announcement on Wednesday, music fans flocked to social media to share their thoughts. For many, they are wondering why acts such as JAY-Z, LL Cool J,Mary J. Bligeand Chaka Khan are nominated. Why? Well, all of these artists are often associated with the rap and R&B genres.
However, some also argue that the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame should just be renamed to the Music Hall Of Fame. That way, more artists can be included in the nominations and the name can better reflect the artists already inducted.
Ultimately, the Rock Hall nominations bring into question what rock music is really considered to be. This debate has become more prominent over the years as artists continue to genre bend and jump in their careers.
Can It just be renamed to music hall of fame cause some of these nominations are not rock artists
Jay F’ing Z!!!!!! What has he done to deserve even a nomination! Duran Duran celebrating 40yrs, even had Notorious B.I.G sample them, sold over 120 million records, sold out tours and get nothing!! Jay-Z marries Beyoncé, grunts on a few songs and he’s nominated!!
I just thought about this and I got this wrong, at least the Rock & Roll part. All our current music stems from the blues.
I guess my bitch is at The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. There are hundreds of artists out there that should have already been inducted. https://t.co/X94jbWOaWj
Why is the rock n roll hall of fame for all genres? Like why each genre’s don’t have they own hall of fames or why isn’t the rock n roll hall of fame named the music hall of fame or something like that?
