Paramore is back!

After a five-year hiatus from releasing new music, the Nashville-based trio have returned with “This Is Why,” the lead single and title track of their new album out Feb. 10 via Atlantic Records.

Accompanying the psychedelic new song is a stunning, retro-inspired video directed by Turnstile frontman Brendan Yates. Check out the video below.

Speaking about the music video collaboration with Yates, vocalist Hayley Williams said in a press release, “It was so rad working with Brendan. I’ve known the Turnstile guys for a little while and was so psyched to have our worlds collide in this way. There’s a cool kinship between the way our bands do things….” Williams also teased the potential for the two bands to join forces down the line adding, “Hopefully, we will get to play shows with them at some point.”

According to Williams, “This Is Why” was a timely and necessary choice for the title track of the album: “It summarizes the plethora of ridiculous emotions, the rollercoaster of being alive in 2022, having survived even just the last three or four years. You’d think after a global pandemic of fucking biblical proportions and the impending doom of a dying planet, that humans would have found it deep within themselves to be kinder or more empathetic or something.”

Prior to the release of their upcoming sixth studio, Paramore are set to embark on an intimate run of shows in select cities, offering fans a rare opportunity to witness the band without a traditional arena setting. Additionally, Paramore will headline this year’s When We Were Young Festival alongside scene staples My Chemical Romance and Avril Lavigne.
