Originating in Hyderabad, India, the one-man composer of HOME BREWED UNIVERSE brings his latest full-length release ‘Fear of an Obtuse Earth‘ to light later this month on January 25th.

Combining a blend of instrumental post-rock and post-metal interjected with ethereal synth and almost a heavy pop-rock atmosphere, the genre-bending music of HOME BREWED UNIVERSE originates from one person, multi-instrumentalist Arka Sengupta. Having started the project in late 2018, he’s since released several full-length albums, EPs, and singles – including the ‘Euphoric Entropy EP (2018), ‘Instances‘ full length (2019), ‘Explorer Inside‘ EP (2019), ‘Anima Stigmata‘ full length (2019), and two full-lengths ‘The Time Thief‘ and ‘Reliqua Mentis‘ [premiered here]  in 2020.

Today, we have the honor of presenting the premiere of a new video for the song “Mass Appeal” off the upcoming ‘Fear of an Obtuse Earth‘ album. A bit of insight into the new album comes from Arka Sengupta:

“Recorded during the Covid-19 pandemic, this is an album that reflects the scenario we all faced during the mid-stages of the pandemic in India. There was misinformation everywhere. People were panicking instead of taking necessary precautions. And there was chaos everywhere. And, thus, came the idea in my mind to create an album that not only reflects the current situation of the world but also reflects the chaos within a human mind.

“The musical style of ‘Fear of an Obtuse Earth’ is something that I have been wanting to do for a very long time. A bit hard-hitting and a bit heavy, with influences from progressive and experimental metal/rock, this album can take you to dark places inside your psyche and also give you ethereal moments simultaneously. It was quite tough to think of the concept and create music that suited the vibe. But in the end it was worth it.”
