and I’m not one to forget
All Your Sorries, a new single from Australian synthesizer songstress Seja, is out now. The track comes off her forthcoming album, Here Is One I Know You Know, due for release in 2023 via It Records. With hints of Stereolab, Portishead, BEAK>, Warpaint, Jane Weaver, and the delicious pathos of Weyes Blood, the melancholic track has the warmth of nostalgia with a bit of retrofuturism.
Seja says the track started with a Suzuki Omnichord and turned into a dense synth and drum machine dreamscape reminiscent of Moroder and The Human League, recorded in her backyard studio in Brisbane.
“I was listening to a lot of Harmonia, and Brian Eno, as well as Yellow Magic Orchestra – and was really loving the relationship between their layered electronic
and acoustic instruments,” she says. I tried to sing and write from the heart without masking the meaning behind metaphors. And this fell out.”
The accompanying clip, directed by Spod (and his best friend the Fairlight Video Synthesizer) places Seja in a bizarre VHS landscape, a vapourwave-flavoured fantasy sequence.

‘All Your Sorries’ was written, produced, and performed by Seja, who played and programmed the plethora of synths and drum machines…but also features guests from other Brisbane indie bands: Jen Boyce (Ball Park Music) on bass, George Browning (Velociraptor) on percussion and Chris Farrer (The Quickening) on guitar.
A Roland RS-09 string synth brings a warm fuzzy string chorus to the scene, a pleasant discovery for Seja: “The song is about wanting to connect on a deeper level in every interaction and how that’s not always welcome – and being hard on oneself in inconsequential situations while asking the question, how many synthesisers is too many synthesisers?”
