Norwegian label Ramah Records has signed Argentinian heavy rockers Babas del Diablo. The label will give their latest album ‘El Origen del H@mbre‘ the vinyl treatment (streaming below via Bandcamp). The release date to be set later, as the waiting time for vinyl for all label pressings has been severely affected by the pandemic. This collaboration deal also includes the release of Babas del Diablo earlier and future records on vinyl pressing.
Babas del Diablo hails from Claypole, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and was formed in 2011. This band fuses their love for Grunge, Stoner Rock, Punk, and Metal into something special that is hard to cram into just one genre. The following years consisted of live shows, songwriting, and fine-tuning their sound for what would become their debut album ‘Republica de los Vicios‘. The debut was recorded at Telonius Studio, engineered by Norberto Oviedo (Matan S.A.), self-released in 2014, and distributed by famed Argentinian label Icarus Music.
After the release of their debut album, Babas del Diablo played shows all over the greater province of Buenos Aires and continued to write new material, which resulted in the 2016 live recording of the EP ‘Ceropositivo‘ at the Enrique Santos Discépolo Studio at the University of Lanus. The EP was produced and mix by the band themselves, the mastering was done by Sergio Chotsourian (Los Natas, Soldati) at Death Studios. Following up the release of ‘Ceropositivo‘, the band released video singles and toured around Buenos Aires, including major festivals within the heavier rock scene.
In 2017, Babas del Diablo crossed paths with Balbosj, owner of Norwegian label Ramah Records, on holiday in Argentina. A friendship was made. This is the second band signing for the label, after The W Likes made it official earlier in June. The W Likes already has three releases out on Ramah Records and a fourth one is in the making. Founded on April 10th, 2013, Ramah Records is the result of the love Balbosj has for music and his hometown of Hamar.
Babas del Diablo started the writing and pre-production of what would become their latest album ‘El Origin del H@mbre‘. Recorded at the Unplugged Rock House engineered by Cesar Barrabia (Pork), produced and mixed by the band, and self-released in 2020.
The year 2021 marks ten years of Babas del Diablo. This is celebrated with a special live session with guest musicians performing songs from ‘El Origin del H@mbre‘ streaming on YouTube. Additionally, a re-release of the ‘Ceropositivo‘ EP on cassette from Argentinian label Ruidoteka Records, as well as the recent signing of a record deal with Ramah Records for future and past releases to get a vinyl treatment.
Be sure to keep an eye and ear out for Babas del Diablo, as the future is certain to bring you more heavy tunes from these four guys from Claypole. Have a listen to their recent ‘El Origin del H@mbre‘ album streaming below, as well as a couple of recent videos celebrating that special 10-year anniversary live session. Ramah Records will be announcing the vinyl release dates in the near future.
