Acclaimed UK post-grunge crew COASTAL FIRE DEPT. have released an astounding reworking of the Pixies’ classic, Gouge Away, out now via L’islet Records. The single is available now through all streaming sites, and the video lands on Friday 4th November.

Born in 2013 and hailing from Guernsey, COASTAL FIRE DEPT. feature guitarist and vocalist Ollie Goddard, bassist Saad Frihmat, and Ozzy Austin on drums. Possessing an arsenal of premium releases comprised of 2019’s debut mini-album, Control, 2020’s much lauded, Radio EP, last year’s first fully fledged album, Connected, and their standalone single, You’re Stuck, where the band joined forces with Ken Andrews (Failure, Stone Temple Pilots, Chris Cornell), COASTAL FIRE DEPT. have a unique quality to deliver constant releases and at a hugely productive rate. Keen to keep evolving, the latter half of 2021 prompted a move towards a harder guitar driven vibe. It also saw the band record with Kellii Scott (Failure, QOTSA, Veruca Salt & more) on drums. Their singles, ‘Gun’, ‘Loner’ and ‘What Do I’ were released to unbridled praise, racking up widespread global radio play and press coverage, which included strong support from Kerrang! Radio.

The threesome kick on again with their powerful cover version of Gouge Away. Ollie (guitarist and vocalist) remarks: “‘Gouge Away’ is a cover of the Pixies’ classic track. Often compared to the Pixies, we pay homage by putting our spin on the song that tells the story of Samson & Delilah. It’s recorded a little quicker than the original with added dynamics. We are proud of it; it’s an upbeat version with big choruses and a new almighty ending.”

Further singles will follow in 2023, along with the band’s much awaited sophomore full-length album, out this Spring. Keep tabs via their socials for constant updates.
