It has taken four years for the Cologne, Germany band Dead Man’s Eyes to return with their second studio album, simply titled III. Again, it will be released on Tonzonen Records, on August 19th.

Similar to their previous album Words Of Prey (2018) and their debut EP Meet Me In The Desert (2013), the five-piece band does a balancing act between genres. This time more than ever.

The album title already reveals the band’s intention. Three bundles, each consisting of three songs, are currently being pressed onto the black vinyl of their third release. Each of the bundles stands for a genre that shapes the band’s development. Sometimes it takes lap steel, blues harp and jazz brushes, sometimes the throat has to taste of blood for the sound to match the quintet’s vision. The five describe their style in a simple way as “constantly changing, with a permanent home“.

This may not least be due to the fact that the core of the band has been writing songs since their school days, has spent countless hours crammed into overloaded cars on the motorway and has often toured across Germany for 50 € per show. During countless shows and festivals all over Germany, but also in Poland or China, Dead Man’s Eyes shared the stage with acts like Tame Impala. After the release of their first album, they were also nominated for the popNRW award in the category “Best Newcomer” in 2019.

In their rehearsal room in a Cologne, Germany backyard, Peter Engel, Nima Davari, Simon Mead, Simon Reichelt and Phil Eulgem have now written, recorded their second album. It was produced by Nima Davari of the Tonzonen band Gong Wah.

The release date of new album III is August 19th, 2022 and it will be available on vinyl, CD, as well as on all major digital platforms. The artwork was created in collaboration with Spanish artist Azura Daze, who is currently producing one of three music videos for the upcoming album.
