Canadian post-punk outlet DELPREzTON has recently released “Twenty Four Hours,” a cover song of legendary UK post-punk group Joy Division. The artist pays homage to one of the most significant acts, who shaped post-punk as a genre and paved the way for many brilliant artists, musicians, and bands. Sonically, DELPREzTON comes so close to the original song, to the point you’ll only find slight differences. Still, it seems like this highly skilled artist put much more effort into vocal and musical performance than Joy Division did back in the day. Of course, the sound quality that meets all the trends in modern music production unquestionably helps this rendition to shine even brighter than the original, but DELPREzTON also thought about everything, so there’s a touch of the early eighties nostalgia lurking around. He poured all his experience, knowledge, skills, and talent into this cover song, and the effort is more than hearable in each segment.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice that DELPREzTON left almost the entire structure intact. All the segments and instruments are more than similar to the original, evoking the true spirit of Joy Division. However, this version seems much more energetic, aggressive, and powerful. These qualities will especially appeal to all newbies stumbling upon this magnificent genre for the first time. It’s also a neat introduction to the DELPREzTON’s sound and will undoubtedly force you to revisit his luxurious back catalog. The artist walks the listeners through the rich, luxurious, dark, psychedelic, ethereal Joy Division universe by emitting superbly recorded, flawlessly performed, heavily distorted chord progressions and riffs. Of course, there is a layer of reverby themes, melodies, and harmonies, spicing things up and adding more complexity to these marvelous song. The interplay between lead and rhythm guitar brings the best post-punk qualities to the table, proving that DELPREzTON’s rendition is a true representative of Joy Division’s sound.

Like in the majority of Joy Division’s numbers, the equally complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines play significant role by adding heaviness, depth, and clarity. However, this instrument has many purposes here. It acts like a lead at some points while simultaneously binding guitars and drums together. The drumming performance sounds divine like the remainder of the instrumentations. DELPREzTON thought about the rhythm section, so you’ll notice intricate beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics dictating groove and pace, but also keeping the other orchestrations in line. The artist thought about even the tiniest details and nuances, so this version comes close to the original by all means. You should put this cover song on your radar, but also revisit DELPREzTON’s catalog because this exceptional artist always delivers top-quality music. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
