The perfect soundscape for the barren and dusty lands of Sergio Leone’s Spaghetti Westerns, but with an oneiric twist, ‘Hidden Sun’ was inspired by the dreamy synths of Ennio Morricone’s soundtrack for ‘Il Mercenario’. Here Dreamwave were aiming at crafting a composition that exudes a comforting warmth, reminiscent of the soothing color palette of Leone’s films: washed out pastel hues covered in a subtle orange tint, emulating the heat of a hidden sun in a desert environment. Having witnessed Tears For Fears perform live left a profound impression on them and inspired them to acquire and experiment with 80s synthesisers, diving into the sonic possibilities they offered and blending different sounds together.

From one bedroom via two cities. The Dreamwave project started on a simple recording set-up that now finds itself pressed to wax for the first time.

Surrounded by music in Brighton, it was only a matter of time before the members of Dreamwaves paths collided to form a psychedelic rock project that represented their shared love of retro graphic design artwork, Bauhaus minimalism and sci-fi such as Warhammer.

The move to Bristol sees the band step away from the dreamy seaside landscapes of Brighton to absorb the heavier brutalist sounds of Bristol. Relocation helped them gain traction with BBC Radio Bristol, BBC lntroducting, BBC SouthWest, Amazing Radio, and The Big Jeff show on SOHO Radio.
