Fashion Bird Danger Danger is a psychedelic pop supergroup consisting of John Wlaysewski and Olive Hui (Late Cambrian), Matthew Milligan and Joey Slater (Wheatus), Lisa Hammer (Mors Syphilitica, Triana Orpheus on Venture Bros), and Levi Wilson (Radiana). These highly experienced musicians shared samples and ideas back and forth between August and December of 2020, during the lockdown in New York City. This swapping of ideas resulted in a profoundly detailed material that defies categorization into a singular musical genre. Their second full-length album Phanerothymes is more than an excellent proof of how various genres can work together in polyphonous harmony.
Previously, Fashion Bird Danger Danger released a series of recordings such as a self-titled EP, singles like 90 Day Fiancé (Before The 90 Days), Pretty Fly On A White Guy, Hunted (Werewolves Of The Astral Plane), and a debut full-length named Chemtrail Bae. The supergroup keeps it prolific as much as possible but doesn’t lose any qualities during the creative process. Their most-advanced recording proves my point about it.
