Long Island band Innerlove have released their debut album Roscoe, on Refresh Records. The ten tracks on the album weave through country-tinged riffs and vocals with pop rock melodies, held together by personable lyrics about changes that come through different stages of life. The quartet has created an expansive sonic palette, drawing influences from artists like The Weakerthans, Weatherbox, Another Michael, and Anthony Green.

Looking at the song titles on Innerlove’s debut LP suggests things are pretty bleak for the New York four-piece: the record is littered with songs called “Ain’t Who I Wanna Be,” “Things Stop Working,” “Hectic,” “The Way That I Live,” “Burnt Out.” But listening to it paints a very different picture – this isn’t a band burnt out and over it. Innerlove’s just getting started. The bands’s ability to build bright melodies and soaring choruses is on full display, pushed through woeful lyrics of growing up. The whole of Roscoe is a confident step forward for a band that’s always shown potential. It’s clear, after listening through the record, that this is exactly who Innerlove wants to be.

Roscoe was self-recorded by the band in a secluded house in upstate NY with guitarist Joe Rom leading production, and then mixed and mastered by Billy Mannino at Two Worlds Recording. The album is available for now through Refresh Records. Innerlove will head out on a headlining tour with Bike Routes starting June 15th, full routing below.
