Today I would like to introduce such an interesting band that I stumbled upon on social media about a month ago. NOiSiNESS is a relatively new group Italian group based in Siena, and they recently released a debut self-titled full-length recording that instantly caught my ear. As far as I am informed, this group started as a duo between Vasyl Kryshnevski on bass and Filippo Cresci on guitars, which are the only permanent members of this interesting band. The remaining portion of the group involves other talented musicians, which are mainly responsible for drumming and vocal lines. Their style differs from other contemporaries who’re roaming the indie scene, and I was hyped to share my thoughts about their music with you.

This recording contains seven profoundly detailed compositions that are spanning over several complementary genres. The group thoroughly explores indie rock and noise rock aesthetics, but there are also smaller chunks of other genres implemented along the way. Besides vividly hearable abrasiveness of noise rock and indie rock arrangements, you may hear the elements of shoegaze, dream pop, alternative rock, and progressive rock. However, NOiSiNESS cleverly measures these additional elements to decorate particular segments and sequences. These additions are also mainly responsible for echoic ambiance, probably achieved by adding generous servings of reverb, echo, and delay effect on guitar channels and studio reverb over the entire mix during the production. Still, these effects are not overwhelming their orchestrations, so you’ll be able to hear each tone delivered by these experienced musicians.

The involved musicians were inspired by diverse list of artists, musicians, and bands during this recording process. You may hear a strong resemblance with groups and artists like Sonic Youth, Björk, Radiohead, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Cure, Mogwai, Cranes, and many others. As much as it may seem like an entirely diverse amalgam of renowned names that served as an inspiration to NOiSiNESS, these musicians somehow managed to pick some of their characteristics and merge them into this harmonious slab of ear-appealing music. From sophisticated melodies, harmonies, themes, arpeggios delivered on guitars to fully detailed basslines that are defining the massiveness of the group, NOiSiNESS nailed with each composition by delivering top-notch ideas and tremendous musicianship. The rhythm section keeps everything in line through progressive rhythmical maneuvers, accentuated segments, and other rhythmic delicacies, while the defined female chants act like storytellers from scratch to finish.

The best part about this self-titled debut is the unique approach to all the beforementioned genres. That’s the aspect where these experienced musicians nailed to the max in my book. You should consider checking out this album if you’re into well-defined indie rock with hints of noise rock and other similar genres. The album is available at streaming services, such as Spotify, Soundcloud, and YouTube.
