The indie punk band from Basel is back after two years. After the closing of ranks with SBÄM Records, the release of the new studio album “The Fear, The Anger & Most Of All Your Hope” and a European tour with Love Equals Death are coming up in 2022.

For their seventh album, Slimboy took the most direct route of all. Guitarist Fabian Gasser recorded the nine songs in his own rehearsal room in Basel. A decision that can be heard. The very personal songs about love, hope and disappointment are close and blunt. Mixing by Bob Hoag (The Ataris, Pollen) and mastering by Jason Livermore at the world famous The Blasting Room (Rise Against, Descendents, NOFX, etc.) gave the album the final touch.

“The fact that we produced and recorded the songs ourselves was the best decision we’ve made in a long time. We are like a good wine, the quality gets better with age,” says singer Joel Bader. Slimboy can look back on a successful band history of over 20 years: chart success in Switzerland, opening act for Oasis, world tour as part of MXPX, studio recordings in Los Angeles, Seattle and Berlin, tours with companions like The Ataris, Dog Eat Dog and many more.

But from the beginning: With Yeah Yeah Yeah (2000) and We hate Slimboy (2003) the first two studio albums were released. EMI/Virgin Records signed Slimboy to a contract. The first steps were crowned by a chart placement in the Swiss charts and a show in front of Oasis at the Hallenstadion Zurich.

In 2004, the third album No Fires on Beach (Phonag Records) was released in Los Angeles. In the two following years, Slimboy played in over 25 Swiss cities, went on the first international tour and was part of the Etnies Fast Forward Tour. In the same period, the fourth album Anthems produced by Clemens Matznick (Rammstein, Donots, Guano Apes, Revolverheld) was released.

As part of the U.S. punk-pop band MXPX, Slimboy toured worldwide between 2010 and 2015. “We played shows from New Zealand to Los Angeles, it was all there,” recalls drummer Silvio Spadino. At the same time, the EPs The Weight Of The World and the album “Family, Music, M” (Sony Music) were created from the side project Cancer.

In the recording studio of Mike Herrera (MXPX) in Seattle, Slimboy recorded the album Sail on Sailor in 2016. The radio single Sorrows released on it received positive feedback internationally and is still one of the band’s most played songs on streaming platforms and radio stations.

With Flo Nowak (Itchy, Emil Bulls), the EP Hopeless & Addicted was created in Berlin in 2019, which became an attention-getter for Slimboy with the song Hey Brother. Airplays in national and international radios and strong streaming numbers followed. Besides international tours with “Dog Eat Dog” and The Ataris, the band played two sold out release shows in their hometown Basel.

In 2022 the journey continues with the new album “The Fear, The Anger & Most Of All Your Hope” and a European tour with Love Equals Death.
