It’s their second single this year, serving as an adequate follow-up of “Against My Will,” another mesmerizing track you should check out. Soundwise, The Sons Of James continue with what they’re doing best, delivering a premium modern melodic punk rock to the table. Those who somehow missed our review of their previous singles should expect a top-notch performance from very creative musicians who unquestionably know how to write and compose catchy, anthemic, and profoundly melodic punk rock songs.

They always put extra effort into their music, but “The Real You” showcases the natural progression in songwriting, composing, arranging, recording, and producing. This track stands out as one of their best works to date, thanks to all the ideas they invested in it, and you’ll notice it in every pore and section of the song. “The Real You” arrives with a rock-solid structure adorned with many segments decorated with premium vocal, sonic, and rhythmic maneuvers. Speaking of the vocals, the lead vocalist always delivers an exceptional performance, emphasizing all the mentioned sections and instrumentations by skillfully gliding over low, mid, and high notes. The additional back vocals and singalongs add a subtle anthemic vibe, one of the primary characteristics of their music. Still, The Sons Of James expertly dose these additional vocal lines without spoiling the remainder of the track.
Once again, the guitars shine in every segment by acting as a perfect backdrop for an outstanding vocal performance. The interplay between rhythm and lead guitars arrives as a colossal wall of an ear-appealing sound that suits the vocals. These folks nailed it once again, and “The Real You” will be right up your alley if you’re into catchy, anthemic, modern melodic punk rock sound.
