The legends are back with a brand new album that will unquestionably shake some bones in the fans of a classic punk rock sound. The Vibrators are a punk rock institution that wanders around for nearly five decades. The list goes on and on with loads of singles, extended plays, demos, live and compilation albums.

This time, The Vibrators have teamed up with a longtime friend Chris Spedding to record a Mars Casino. Chris Spedding is a skillful musician, singer, guitarist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and record producer with over five decades of experience in the music business. His musicianship embraces all styles of rock’n’roll music. Over the years, he performed with Paul McCartney, The Pretenders, Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music, Brian Eno, John Cale, The Wombles, Nucleus, etc. His friendship with The Vibrators dates back to the beginnings of their career when they backed him at a Pogo Dancing, a single released in 1976. Mars Casino reunites the original line-up comprised of Ian Knox Carnochan on vocals and guitar, John Ellis on guitar, Pat Collier on bass guitar, and John Eddie Edwards behind the drums. Chris Spedding supports the entire recording with his engaging guitar solos but also contributes as a co-producer alongside Pat Collier.

Mars Casino contains thirteen detailed classic punk rock songs, entirely performed in a characteristic manner, which unquestionably defines the band such as The Vibrators. Still, this material showcases a variety of other genres included along the way. You’ll notice a strong presence of pub rock, hard rock, rock’n’roll, rockabilly, blues, country, incorporated in such a unique manner. The group paid a lot of attention to the details, and the crossovers into other genres are not spoiling the initial sound of the group. Quite the contrary, Mars Casino seems more interesting with bluesy, country, and pub rock chord progressions, while Chris Spedding is firing his recognizable solos through each composition included on this specific material. The special bond between Chris Spedding and The Vibrators is undoubtfully unique, and their friendship articulates through this comprehensive collection of classic punk rock songs.

The outstanding production boosts these tunes on an entirely new level. It’s nearly impossible to miss powerful chord progressions, engaging riffages, and predominant solos during the whole album. The bass guitar unquestionably gives more depth to the profoundly detailed harmonizations provided by the guitars. A very stable drumming performance offers a series of moderate rhythmical sequences, decorated by various accentuations and simplistic drum fills. Everything sounds well combined, arranged, structured, and produced for the standards of British punk rock music. Numbers like Jesus Stole My Little Dog, Woman 3.2, Follow Your Destiny, Made In Heaven, Platinum Dress, and This Is The Way are just some of the highlights of this particular recording, but I am positively sure you’ll love the entire album if you’re profoundly info the classic punk rock sound of The Vibrators.
