One of the most exciting alternative artists to watch in the UK right now, Viji is back today with her new single “Anything”. Following the release of the grunge anthem “Down” which hailed the start of a new era, “Anything” is released today, a spangly and playful ode to longing with Viji singing, “I hope you’re watching, am I mysterious? To you I’m hoping that you leave wanting more”

Speaking about the track, Viji says, This song is another collaboration with producer Dan Carey. “Anything” is about being someone’s fantasy. Playfully indulging in the gaze put on you. For me this represents my first love interest after a breakup, where I can indulge in how I want to be seen. The tension is being held with an uninterrupted strum of two guitars swaying through different melodies in 6/8.”

The track is released today with a lyric video which sees a group of friends enjoying an unusual dinner party, referencing ‘Nyotaimori’, the Japanese art of eating off a naked body. Viji’s previous single “Down” was released earlier this year to support from BBCR1’s Jack Saunders, BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq, Clash, Dork, DIY, Wonderland, So Young and more.

“Anything” is out today via Speedy Wunderground, and is a continuation of the new partnership between Dan Carey’s label and Viji (real name Vanilla Jenner). Dan, a legendary producer who has worked with Fontaines DC, Wet Leg, slowthai and more, has worked in a close producing and writing partnership with Vanilla on a collection of brand new songs, more due later this year. Some of the new material was played for the first time live at a sold out headline show at Third Man Records in March, and again this month at the Windmill supporting Miss Tiny, as well as a set at the Beach Stage at The Great Escape

Across her previous releases, including “Cherry” and “Are You In My Head”, Viji has built a loyal fanbase and strong foundation with support from the likes of the FADER, DIY, NME, NYLON at press, BBCR1 and BBC Introducing at radio, and playlist support on Spotify from Lorem, Fresh Finds, Our Generation and more.
