Robert Smith of The Cure has made it clear that he wants fans to have access to affordable tickets for the band’s much-anticipated North American tour. In a social media statement, Smith confirmed that The Cure would not use dynamic pricing, a move that can artificially inflate prices during periods of high demand.
The singer also revealed that the band’s tour would feature a wide range of pricing options to ensure that all fans could afford to attend. Additionally, the band has worked with ticketing partners to limit electronic ticket transfers, which can enable scalpers to resell tickets at inflated prices.
While laws in some states prevent the band from enforcing these measures, Smith has urged fans to use face-value exchanges such as twickets.live and cashortrade.org to buy and sell tickets. The band will also work with Ticketmaster to cancel any tickets found to be fraudulent or resold at inflated prices.
Fans can register for The Cure’s Ticketmaster Verified Fan Sale beginning Wednesday, March 15, with a limit of five shows per registration. Registration closes at 10 a.m. Pacific Monday, March 13.
