The album kicks off with the opener “bird song,” which has a strong Paramore post-Farro vibe. Upbeat, funky production contrasted with downbeat, confessional lyrics, with a bit of a modern twist on hyperpop.

The first two tracks are followed by the slower track “unbothered”. Dark piano keys ring around the verse, followed by ringing, high pitched synths and varied vocal ranges in the chorus and more hyperpop vocal manipulation. Then comes “nisam,” a three-minute borderline chiptune dance interlude with minimalist lyrics sung in Croatian, which is rather unusual for an English-language album. “wasted” blasts off with wavering guitars and triumphant drums, almost bordering on shoegaze influence.

My favorite song, a real magnum opus on the album, is of course the 7 minute long “angels” with its very deep lyrics. From “needing an angel” for guidance but not fully committing or “not able to stay”, starting with a tempo change at 3:20 to the repetition of “I’m getting tired” and the lament of “nothing ever happens cause I wanted it to”, he finally sets out to fully change and embrace life, stressing that he’s “paralyzed only by existing/I’m terrified of it disappearing/I’m getting tired of how I’m feeling/I’ve grown to like you but now I’m leaving” before dissolving into a tidal wave of catharsis.

All in all, try again is an eclectic mix of bedroom pop, indietronica and emo-pop that blend so well and flow so naturally, giving it the authentic and mysterious aura that pospano has created. A very deep indie masterpiece.
